Restaurant Plitvice Lakes Etno Garden
There has always been a central place of every house, the center of all gatherings, a space whose walls gather thousands and thousands of stories over the years. It is a place of the greatest celebrations, a place where generations meet and retell the most beautiful memories. In Etno Garden that place is our restaurant. Every real Lika house had a version of this space.
It took a long time for the restaurant to take on today’s look as every detail of its interior was carefully selected. It is a place where people feel a touch of the tradition of Plitvice Lakes through the many restored figures, instruments and aids that we have collected for many years.
Thus, on the ceiling of our central room you can find old accordions, skates, trumpets, plows for horses, swords and the like, and the walls are in some places decorated with traditional weaving, interwoven with wool and paintings depicting some beautiful past times.
The restaurant is, of course, a place where the finest delicacies of this Lika region are eaten and sweet but strong brandies are drunk.
One of the first signs of autumn is certainly apple strudel. A fragrant and aromatic dessert that everyone loves (ok, even if there is a person who doesn’t like apples, we also have a variant with cheese!)
Each house has its own strudel recipe that has been kept for generations. Our strudel is made according to a traditional recipe, and we will always be happy to share the recipe with everyone.
Another dish that is an indispensable part of every family is certainly dried meat and its products and Lika cheeses. Cheeses are the basis of every kitchen in Plitvice. They are mostly made from cow’s milk and can also contain additives such as peppers or herbs and can also be smoked. Of the meat products on the plate, there is always bacon, home-made sausage, dried pork neck, greaves and much more.
